We have a team of highly skilled eye care specialists committed to exceptional patient care and available to see patients with virtually any eye disorder. They offer a full range of services including routine eye examinations, the most advanced eye surgery, and specialized ophthalmic testing, all provided in an efficient, cost effective, and caring manner.
The practice of ophthalmology today is based on a growing body of medical knowledge and technology. With this growth has come the need for increased specialization, and in turn, a collaborative effort in the care of patients. although small in size, the eye is complex and represents a variety of tissue types functioning together as a unit - skin, muscle, glandular tissue, fat, pigmented tissue, collagen, protein, blood vessels, and brain tissue. The eye is located in a bony cavity called the orbit, surrounded by the sinuses, nose, and brain. With the multiplicity of tissue types and the complex structures around it, there is a need for sub-specialization and collaborative efforts with other specialists.
The ophthalmic sub-specialties represented in the Cizik Eye Clinic, include ophthalmic plastic, reconstruc-tive and orbital surgery, corneal and external disease, glaucoma, retina and vitreous, pediatric ophthalmology, and neuro-ophthalmology. Collaboration among the sub-specialists routinely occurs in the care of complicated eye conditions. The ophthalmic plastic surgeon consults with a corneal specialist regarding a burn victim, or the neuro-ophthalmologist consults with a retinal specialist regarding a rare hereditary retinopathy. This is the practice of ophthalmology at its best. The eye is part of the whole patient, and we at the Cizik Eye Center constantly use other physician specialists, laboratories, and the top-notch facilities of Memorial Hermann Hospital and The University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
All of the physicians at the Cizik Eye Clinic are faculty members in the Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science of The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. All are board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and are on the medical staffs of numerous facilities, most notably that of Memorial Hermann Hospital.
