“Your best assurance of excellence in healthcare is to have a questioning student looking over your doctor’s shoulder.”

Fellowships, designed to mesh with our residency program, enhance the entire experience.
The Houston Chapter of the Delta Gammas established a Vireoretinal Fellowship in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science of The University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2006. The Delta Gammas provide research and travel funds during fellowship training.
Monthly Grand Rounds consist of three clinical cases presented by residents, followed by discussion lead by a guest ophthalmologist in that subspecialty. Cases selected represent ones difficult to manage, ones that are common disorders with unusual presentations or rare conditions. The subject matter is always relevant to the subspecialty of the guest. A lecture follows the case discussions.
On three Thursday afternoons the residents present interesting or difficult cases to our clinical faculty, followed by a discussion of management for each case. On the third Thursday the conference is followed by Ethics Rounds.
