Robert W. Butner, MD, specializes in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. His clinical practice focuses on diagnosis and treatment of various vitreoretinal diseases, and he has special interests in new therapies for age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. Butner also serves as retina consultant at Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital in Houston where he is active in the training of retina fellows and ophthalmology residents.

Dr. Butner's international interests include a commitment to improving vitreoretinal patient care. He has served as visiting professor in Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Mongolia.
